Hold on to your hairplugs, ladies and gentlemen! This could be the quad-core Cherry Mobile about to launch next week. One reader commented (thanks Budy!) on our post about the new device is that it looks a lot like an Ainol Novo 7 Venus Quad-Core Tablet. We checked it out and yep, it looks pretty damn the same to us. (We’ve even put the images side by side above just so you can see for yourself.) If that assumption is correct, then we should be able to get a pretty awesome tablet in a pretty cheap package – with the original Ainol product going for about US$ 150 only – translating to about PHP 6,000+. (Let’s assume about PHP 7,000 so we can account for taxes, shipping, and other incidental costs + profits.) With just those things to consider, this could be a killer product already. (Yay, another CSI reference.)

Cherry Mobile’s Rumored Tablet – PHP ?,??? / Ainol Novo 7 Venus – US$ 150

  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • Quad-Core 1.5Ghz ATM 7029
  • 1GB RAM, 16GB Storage, MicroSD Slot
  • 7” 1280×800 IPS screen
  • 2MP Camera, VGA Front
  • WiFi Yes, 3G No
  • Battery: 4,000 mAh

Basing from these specs these could be the best spec tablet for the price – and Cherry Mobile might be the first brand to bring it to the Philippines again. Of course, pictures being similar might not always mean that it’s the exact tablet we’re getting, and maybe CM will be launching other devices as well. So we’re looking forward to next week’s launch to see what really is going on – and what would be the final price.

Like we said some time ago on the #BigTimeShow, local manufacturers’ product announcements are now much more exciting than established brands these days. And that’s always a good thing.
