65x8500B

Sony’s popular 4K line of UHD Bravia TVs just got a bit larger with the introduction of 5 new screen sizes falling into two updated product lines – the affordable X8500B and the top-of-the-line X9500B. Coming in 85, 70, 65, 55, and 49 inches, there’s enough variety for any type of home entertainment setup. The Japanese manufacturer’s new products also come with technologies that include 4K X-Reality Pro picture tuning, Triluminous Display, and a new X-tended Dynamic Range PRO feature (deeper blacks, brighter highlights), to say the least. With a lot of content sources now offering 4K video recording, it definitely looks like the future of TV is in UHD.

In an event held in China today, Xiaomi announced the successor to the hugely affordable Mi3. Aptly named the Mi4, the new smartphone receives some upgraded specs in the name of a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GBs of DDR3 RAM, faster 16GB/64GB storage, slightly larger 3080mAh battery, and improvements to the cameras as well. Additionally, the phone will remain as affordable as ever – with an estimated price of US$322 for the 16GB model.

Given that we actually record, edit, and post a lot of videos on our site (and on our YouTube channel), we actually use and delve in your usual photography (videography) equipment here and there. One such product that we’ve been using for quite a while now is the Tamrac Zipshot – it’s a small “foldable” tripod that was meant for lightweight systems and fast setup / photography. Solid State Drives (SSDs), the market’s answer to nearly instant access to data on a storage chip, has always been the best at what it does – speeding up bootup & load times of our favorite software. That said, SSD capacities have always been much smaller than platter-type Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). Solutions to combine the advantages of the two storage solutions have been limited – until Western Digital introduced the new high performance Black² Dual Drive earlier this year. Packed in a standard 2.5” laptop HDD design and occupies just one drive bay, the Black² should answer the need for speed and storage in today’s increasingly demanding world. Here is our review.

Stay awhile and listen – we’re about to tell you the best deal on a smartphone today. Xiaomi Philippines has arrived and is now offering their first device, the Mi3, for only PHP 10,599. Powered by a 2.3Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with a Full HD 1920×1080 display and 13MP Sony Exmor camera sensor, its got enough high-end specs to rival even the Galaxy S5, LG G2, or Xperia Z1. But it’s still priced at a fraction of those phones and even comes close to rivaling the target market of most local brands. And guess what? You can get one tomorrow, online.

KataM1Review

Kata’s entry into the high-end phablet realm, the M1, is fairly interesting one. Not content with giving us the bare minimum of specs, the HK brand wanted to pack a lot into their new flagship device. A large 4,000mAh battery, boatloads of storage and RAM, FullHD screen, high quality cameras, and lastly a decent processor package combines to make the PHP 9,999 device tempting to grab off the shelves. So is it worth picking up or are low-end Octa-Cores the pick for this price range? Check out our review below to find out!
