This may or may not sound a little advertorial-like to you guys, but we wanted to show you how you can create some great-looking interviews using the Nokia Lumia 1020’s camera and Windows Phone 8.1’s new video editing apps. By combining the two you wouldn’t need to manually copy your raw video files onto your PC and start an extended editing and rendering process – everything is edited and rendered on the phone and uploading is just a few clicks away. No need for a PC! Watch our quick editing process below and see for yourself.

If you’ve seen our review of the Xiaomi Mi3, you’ll know that the Chinese brand is no stranger to competitive pricing here in the Philippines. That might even be an understatement when it comes to their newest product arriving next week – the Redmi 1S. Priced at only PHP 5,599 it offers fairly high specs which includes a 1.6Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 Processor, 4.7” HD Dragontrail display, 8MP Camera, and a decent 2,000mAh battery for good measure. What’s more, you can pick up first party accessories for it as well! So check out the Redmi 1S launch preview and its full specs below!

The MRT train has had an apparent derailment accident earlier at Taft Avenue Station this afternoon. Several pictures and individual accounts have shown up on a Facebook page where consumers can complain about MRT issues earlier today. Currently, it seems there are some injured people in the derailing (20 – rushed to a Pasay hospital) and are being attended to. The operations of MRT and possible passengers intending to ride today is still unclear though.

A few weeks ago, Electroworld put up a great sale for the flagship Nokia Lumia devices – namely the Lumia 1020 with the 41MP Camera for only PHP 11,000; and the Lumia 1520 Snapdragon 800 phablet for only PHP 12,000. We were a bit skeptical then, but we ordered online to see if their system worked. Long story short though, we did get our Lumia 1020 and for only PHP 11,000. That’s good enough in itself to be newsworthy. If you’re interested, you should check out Electroworld.com.ph and order there, or take your chance at their brick & mortar stores to see if actual units are available.

Well guys, you asked for it. You asked for it and despite our extreme lack of sleep we’ve managed to give it to you: the first (we think) detailed video unboxing of the new and improved Cherry Mobile Flare 3, the local brand’s current “Phablet ng Bayan”. With specs that you would normally find in a PHP 5k or even higher price point, the Flare 3 manages the PHP 3,999 sweet spot while simultaneously boosting its specs up to a 5” qHD IPS display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, and 8GBs of storage. So what does it look like, and how do the specs perform in our sort of detailed unboxing battery of tests? Find out in our video below!

Adopting the catch phrase of a local ice cream drumstick ad, we’d like to start with this: “Ano bang mabibili ng P4,000 pesos nyo?” (What can your PHP 4,000 pesos buy?) Well in the local smartphone world, you’d probably expect a low-end Quad- or Dual-Core device with a 4” or so screen. Not so with the new Cherry Mobile Flare 3 – the third device in the line that launched the local android smartphone trend. Packing a 5” IPS qHD display; Quad-Core processor; increased memory space; battery; improved cameras; and even the newest Android operating system (4.4 Kitkat), we wouldn’t fault you to think the price would be higher either. But its not, the Flare 3 is going to be sold for PHP 3,999. Interested? Check out our launch preview video and specs below!

xiaomimi3review

When we heard Xiaomi was going to expand its horizons to the Philippines back in April, we already knew it was going to be a gamechanger. What we didn’t expect though, was for it to happen so fast (and furious). Three months later, we now live in a world where the Mi3 has been available here for 4 weeks. Packing a Snapdragon 800 processor; 5.0” FullHD Gorilla Glass 3 display; large 3,050mAh Battery; and running Android 4.4 Kitkat; this phone can easily keep up with even the most expensive 1st Tier flagships and is priced at half the cost – PHP 10,599. But is it too good to be true or are we truly in an era of pure consumer bliss? You can find out in our full Xiaomi Mi3 review!

65x8500B

Sony’s popular 4K line of UHD Bravia TVs just got a bit larger with the introduction of 5 new screen sizes falling into two updated product lines – the affordable X8500B and the top-of-the-line X9500B. Coming in 85, 70, 65, 55, and 49 inches, there’s enough variety for any type of home entertainment setup. The Japanese manufacturer’s new products also come with technologies that include 4K X-Reality Pro picture tuning, Triluminous Display, and a new X-tended Dynamic Range PRO feature (deeper blacks, brighter highlights), to say the least. With a lot of content sources now offering 4K video recording, it definitely looks like the future of TV is in UHD.
