Microsoft may be entering the wearable industry a little late, but what they have recently announced is almost a fully realized product. The Microsoft Band which will sell for US$199 starting tomorrow almost looks familiar – shaped like most bands and might even be mistaken for a Samsung Gear Fit with a non-curved display. Underneath though is a different beast – powered by the Microsoft Health app that supports multiple smartphone platforms and packs all of the features you would expect from a modern wearable, and then some.

One of the most anticipated features of the Sony Xperia Z3 line – the PS4 remote play feature – is now live. Essentially the same feature that PS Vita’s and PS TV’s enjoy, remote play allows you to access your PS4 system anywhere in your house wirelessly – with whatever is going on your console displayed on your phone. Finally, you can play Killzone while in the john, lounging in your patio, or sneaking some extra frags in bed. Convenience, and the future, is now yours – though of course its limited to the Japanese company’s Sony Xperia Z3 line of devices.

Back in September when the rumors of Microsoft retiring the Nokia brand from the smartphone business started circulating, Nokia’s Barry French (Executive VP, Marketing & Corporate Affairs) posted a response on the company’s official blog: “Nokia brand still very much alive.” Of course, the mobile phone business was sold to Microsoft and that’s what’s being retired. But Nokia still exists in the products that they still own – a large IP portfolio that companies still pay royalties for; a very powerful map service (that is free on Androids now!); and the same engineers and thinkers that brought us so much innovation in the mobile phone space. So yes, Microsoft is taking away the Nokia phone brand, but Nokia lives on.

The highly anticipated SKK Mobile Phoenix X1 Octa-Core phone might be arriving soon in limited quantities for the first batch. If you haven’t heard, the PX1 was announced at an extremely affordable PHP 5,499 price point and packs the aforementioned Octa-Core processor and 5.0” HD display. We’ve been waiting for this guy to arrive since August and unfortunately has become sort of a vaporware joke in the Big Time Show Community. But just like Duke Nukem Forever eventually did come out, maybe we’ll also see the PX1 released – and hopefully before Half-Life 3 comes out. (Yay for video game puns.)

Tesla Marketing Image 02

Nokia’s newest imaging phone is here in the form of the Lumia 830 and its priced at PHP 18,990. For a new Windows Phone with a 10MP PureView shooter with a new Optical Image Stabilization module, that’s a fairly decent deal. You’ll also be getting some decent mid-range specs in the form of a 5.0” 720p screen, Quad-Core Snapdragon 400, and LTE Capabilities. In our opinion though, one of its biggest advantages right now is the new Lumia Denim update, which brings some cool updates to the user experience and extra camera features.

As far as smartphones are concerned, the Sony Xperia Z line of androids stand as some of the classiest ones around. (And they’re no slouch in terms of power either) Nothing embodies that more than the recently launched Xperia Z3 line – thinner, sleeker, and more powerful than ever before. With features like extended 2-day battery life, improved water and dustproof capabilities, wider and brighter camera optics, and even PS4 Remote Play, Sony has elevated the brand to an even greater standard. And with a fullsize phone, a compact, and a tablet, there’s enough to choose from for any consumer.

The famous Nokia HERE Maps, formerly exclusive to all Nokia phones, is now available on all Android devices regardless of brand. We’ll let that sink in for a moment – one of the most popular Nokia-exclusive features is now free and can be installed on your Android. If you told us that a few years ago we’d tell you you were crazy, but not today – as Microsoft didn’t buy this part of Nokia in the acquisition. That leaves us with one of the best offline mapping applications in the world – and its free on whatever Android you want.
