Great news for Angry Birds fans on the Android platform: Angry Birds Rio will eventually hit the Android Market as a free app, as opposed to being exclusive only to the Amazon App Store. (Source: Technoodling)

The newest addition of Angry Birds that will occupy your Android devices comes in the promotional tie in to Rio, the 3D CG animated movie coming soon to theatres. Since there are already versions of the game out in iOS devices and through the Amazon App Store, we know that the game features higher quality graphics and some completely new art. It all looks pretty damn good from what we’ve seen. Sadly, we didn’t see any of our favorite Green Pigs in the game – maybe they finally gave up.

So even if we are a little apprehensive about losing more time to endlessly flinging birds into things, we wouldn’t mind a prettier version of Angry Birds sitting in our devices at all – and best of all, still free!

Angry Birds Rio should be available, free, on the Android Market sometime this week. It will require Androids with higher specs to run.
