This year, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has been used on different midrange devices in China. This made a jump in performance when it comes to premium devices and also flagship killers. Now, information regarding a lineup is suspected to have not only the 8+ Gen 1 will power midrange devices, but also the current flagship the 8 Gen 2.

The suspected next Redmi K series, according to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station, will harbor SM8475, SM8550 and SM8650. In case you aren’t familiar, these are Qualcomm’s part numbers for their SoCs, particularly their flagship chips. These are Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 8 Gen 2 and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to be announced this October.

The market positioning of the Redmi K series is that of a midrange device harboring flagship performance with average cameras. This means that the 8+ Gen 1 and 8 Gen 2 chips have supposedly gone down in production price over time. With this information at hand, it is safe to assume that other midrange devices from other brands would follow suit. The 8+ Gen 1 specifically, would further reduce in price as it had already been used on midrange devices since earlier this year and late last year.
