Dimensity 9200 announced as MediaTek’s 2023 flagship SoC

With 2022 coming to a close, MediaTek announces their top tier chip to power next generation of devices for 2023. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 gets announced with key improvements from the Dimensity 9000, the 9200 has a new CPU and GPU configuration and more. The 9200 offers competition to the upcoming Snapdragon chip, aptly rumored to be named as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. 

Upgrades start with the CPU configuration, the 9200 features a tri-cluster design. Still a 1+3+4 setup, but now having the new ARM designs, a Cortex X3 at 3.05GHz, three Cortex A715s at 2.85GHz and four Cortex A510s at 1.8GHz. The chip supports 32-bit support with the new revision of the A510. The CPU harbors 8MB of L3 cache and 6MB of system cache. The CPU is paired with a ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU for graphics performance. 

The chip is fabbed with TSMC’s second generation of their 4nm process. MediaTek promises 12% improvement on CPU performance and 25% power reduction over Dimensity 9000. The ISP get a make up as well as it now supports RGBW sensors capable of improvements in low light photography. 

The 9200 also has WiFi 7 support with potentially to cut 70% of power compared to existing WiFi 6 setups. Unlike the 9000, it will now support mmWave on top of sub-6GHz 5G.

Phonemakers on Weibo have teased on Weibo that they’re working on a Dimensity 9200 device. As for benchmarks, it scores 1.26Million on AnTuTu and 1424, 4471 on Geekbench 5 single and multi core performance.
