Rumor: A Snapdragon 865 Variant More Powerful Than The Snapdragon 865 Plus

The Snapdragon 865 is already a meaty and powerful processor which dominated and plagued in many smartphones today. Qualcomm also announced the Snapdragon 865 Plus earlier this quarter to bolster even more the performance of the already excellent powerhouse chip. But it seems that there is more to be squeezed to the Snapdragon 865. 

Sleepy Kuma on Twitter has surfaced information with this new variant of the Snapdragon 865. Dubbed as “SM8250-AC” — the vanilla Snapdragon 865 has a part number of “SM8250” and the Plus with “SM8250-AB” — he translated that the prime core of the variant runs at 3.12GHz at maximum, the Kryo Gold cores at 2.60GHz and 1.80GHz for the smaller Kryo Silver cores. The source attached to his tweet was a Korean blog claiming the alleged variant of the chip which was requested by an undisclosed Chinese manufacturer.

Aside from Sleepy Kuma, insider Digital Chat Station has somewhat backed up this. He claimed earlier that a midrange chipset that bears the same architecture as the Snapdragon 865 is on the works. In turns out that the chip as he claims is a flagship chip even more powerful than the Snapdragon 865 Plus. The assurance of this claim and Sleepy Kuma’s tweet is unknown. But interesting to note that this came from two different sources. 

It is unknown when will this chip debut into the market. Also unknown is who requested this chip.
