The Dimensity 800 system on a chip is yet to debut, but a Plus version is already rumored on a Chinese social media. Digital Chat Station from Weibo has described of what seems to be a Dimensity 800 Plus (820) version.

According to him, the chip scored 360,000 at a certain benchmark. Based on his track record, he usually pertains to AnTuTu benchmark when talking about benchmark scores. He also described that the chip is “slightly slower” than HiSilicon’s new midrange chipset, the Kirin 820.

The standard Dimensity 800 from MediaTek is composed of eight cores. These cores are four of each cluster, a Cortex A76 and A55 topology from ARM. Both clusters run at 2GHz. The Dimensity 800, scores near at 330,000. This was also a rumor according to the same source. Another thing to note is that the chipset has an integrated 5G modem. The chip will have 5G capabilities and looks to be a decent chipset in terms of performance, especially for a chip made for midrange devices.

So it is most likely that the chip is a MediaTek Dimensity 800 running at higher clock speeds, rumored at 2.6GHz. It is also safe to assume that the GPU will have bump up in speeds as well. It is unsure if the new chip will have improved ISP or support for better displays and the like. MediaTek will be holding a conference later at China, and it is rumored that the said chip will make an appearance there.
