Maybe you’ve heard or maybe you haven’t, but there’s a tragedy that happened in Paris recently – the Notre Dame Cathedral caught fire and has sustained some damage to it’s roof and spire – damaging some of the most important architectural pieces of the 12th century historic landmark.
A landmark that, coincidentally was recreated with a large amount of detail in one of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Games – Assassin’s Creed Unity. And good guy Ubisoft, being the French company that they are, have decided to donate a huge sum of money (Euro 500,000 / US$ 564,000) to help rebuild it.
But that’s not all, Ubisoft has also put up AC: Unity up for free on their PC store, uPlay! We guess its to remember the Cathedral as it was, especially back in the day. But we really don’t wanna question their motives; we’ll happily accept the free game.
The free game is available right now on PC as we mentioned through Ubisoft’s own online store called uPlay. To grab it for free, you’ll need to register for uPlay if you haven’t already and download the client to buy the game. Here’s the link to their US Web Store for Unity, but you’ll likely have to go to the store region of where you signed up from.
There, just search for the game and put it in your cart and buy it. You may have to include a legitimate payment option though, as we had to choose PayPal to check out even though the total cost was $0.00.
Either way, this is yet another awesome game to grab for free in this new world of competition between online distribution stores. Ubisoft didn’t necessarily do this to gain a bigger following on their uPlay store, but we’re sure this got them some pretty good PR. Take from that what you will, while also clutching to the free game to take home.
