Xiaomi’s YouTube channels are generally quite simple – they talk about their products, the ROM updates, and Hugo Barra also answers questions. But this New Year they’ve decided to make a more explosive video for us to watch: namely blowing up a Xiaomi Mi4 with fireworks. Presumably to celebrate the coming of 2015, it also gives us a quick glimpse on the durability of the Aluminum-built smartphone which has not yet arrived in most countries – including ours. Anyway, watch the video to see what happens.
We know these kinds of torture test videos can be considered wasteful to most consumers, but we also urge you to look at it from the manufacturer’s side. To them, they torture test a ton of phones and never show it on camera. This one is merely one they’ve decided to show. And we’re sure it was both entertaining as well as educational for their engineers to some extent. Don’t hold it against them – they probably destroy phones like these on work related activities on a daily basis.
Whether it was for educational or engineering purposes or both, let’s let them have their fun and support their products so long as they come up with excellent products like the ones they have now. Oh and, Happy New Year!
