The Electric DeLorean
Marty McFly, fictional time-traveller and gas DeLorean 88MPH driver extraordinaire, must either be ecstatic as hell right now, or really pissed. Why? Because he might have avoided a lot of problems in his trilogy back in 1985 if he had the newest version of his chosen vehicle for ripping apart space-time. DMC (DeLorean Motor Company) has announced plans to revive the iconic DeLorean sportscar and give it a futuristic new upgrade – an electric engine.
Revamped interior complete with GPS, sans time circuits
The new DeLorean looks like it’ll be powered by a 400 volt, AC induction, liquid cooled electric motor and has a peak power of 260HP, 360lb/ft of torque, and a Max RPM of 14,000. Top speed reaches 125MPH (more than the 88 you need of course), and it goes from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. Those numbers are actually quite good – especially since its rocking an electric engine. The powerplant can be charged for 3.5 hours and can last up to 100+ miles (160+ KM) of city driving. Given the gas price situation the world is suffering from, a nice time-travelling electric DeLorean just might do the trick.
Unfortunately, the electric DeLorean will only be available in the United States and will cost around US $ 100,000 when its released in 2013. Biff Tannen was not available for comment.
