Eager to promote safe internet use for children (and of course adults), Yahoo! Philippines have launched an online treasure hunt to teach parents and their kids about online safety and netiquette – and award some awesome prizes in the process. The contest, dubbed the “Purple Hunt”, will consist of family teams who will be tasked certain assignments that they should be able to find and achieve through some of Yahoo!’s online websites, offsite locations and even your local TV and radio broadcasts. There’s a lot of instant prizes involved but for one lucky team, they’ll be able to get the grand prize of a Presidio condominium unit at Lakefront City – valued at a whopping P4 Million.
To join the treasure hunt, a family of at least one parent and one child (13+) will only need to sign up to the Yahoo! Purple Hunt Family Edition website here and register the family’s existing Yahoo! Mail accounts. Once the teams have taken the Yahoo! Safety pledge, the hunt begins! Each team will be given assignments to find certain things from Yahoo! properties – these will appear at various times a day on social media partners, offsite locations and even traditional media channels.
The Purple Hunt will be a four week long adventure and will award many instant prices – including Globe Tattoo broadband sticks, trips to Bacolod, Iloilo, Cebu, Busuanga, Cagayan de Oro, Singapore c/o Airphil Express, McDonalds’ Birthday Packages, MyPhone devices, and Yahoo! Giveaways. Of course participants will also have the chance to win the grand prize of the aforementioned PHP 4M Presidio condo at Lakefront City.
Yahoo! has been fully invested in promoting online safety for children and as such they’ve dedicated an entire website for web safety education at ph.safely.yahoo.com. Their partners for the Purple Hunt includes the GMA Network, Magic 89.9, and all of the Fox International Channels. This contest is co-presented by Globe Telecom and joined by partners Airphil Express, McDonalds, MyPhone, and SM North EDSA.
