New Flagship MediaTek Chip To Be Unveiled This Month

MediaTek has doing strides with the mobile chip industry recently. With the successful Helio G series and the Dimensity series packing a punch based on reviews, the firm has already beaten rival Qualcomm in chip sales.

Now their upcoming upper midrange chip is rumored to launch this month tipster says. The rumor originates from Weibo, Digital Chat Station implied.

As a refresher, from the tipster itself, the upcoming chip will be built on 6nm process, will feature an ARM Cortex-A78 microarchitecture and have a Mali G77 MC9 GPU. The clockspeeds soar at 3GHz, even higher than the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which only clocks in at 2.84GHz.

AnTuTu benchmark scores were reported to be as high as 600,000. This is comparable to the Snapdragon 865 flagship platform last year and near the scores of the newly launch Vivo X60 series with an Exynos 1080 chip.

Aside from that, he also said that a device with the alleged chip will be launching soon. No clues were given which device is it. But looking from history, Xiaomi and Vivo were MediaTek’s customers with the higher end Dimensity series, considering it is a China launch.
