The year 2023 and devices has been equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 7+ Gen 2,a similar chip to the 8+ Gen 1, on premium or even midrange devices. Next year, the chipmaker is gearing up the follow up for the upcoming chips. From the looks of it, it is all too familiar.
Digital Chat Station from Weibo has shared details regarding Qualcomm’s midrange lineup. He stated on the Weibo that SM7475 or the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2’s performance is “too advanced” and continued that SM7550, its follow up, won’t be as good.
Though, he also hinted that Qualcomm’s true midrange contender will be the “decentralized Snapdragon 8”. This means that the next Snapdragon 8 to the 8+ Gen 1, the 8 Gen 2, will be seen on midrange devices next year.
If correct, this year’s best from Qualcomm will be powering cheaper devices from next year. This will unlock a plethora of features such as gaming and even improved computational photography thanks to the flagship ISP equipped on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
There are already rumored next wave of midrange devices with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that including the Redmi K70. We even get a glimpse of the chip being used on lower priced devices with the upcoming realme GT Neo6 and OnePlus Ace2 Pro.
