Qualcomm just announced their newest premium chips for midrange and flagship devices. Starting with the flagship tier chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a boosted version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with the clock rates amped up by 10% and a switch of process to TSMC from Samsung.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has the ARM Cortex X2, A710 and A510 now clocked at 3.2GHz, 2.8GHz, 2.0GHz respectively. This is up by 10% on all core clusters. Qualcomm promises by up to 10% faster performance and 30% more efficient. The GPU also gets a 10% boost. The 8+ Gen 1 is now manufactured by TSMC’s 4nm.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 succeeds the popular Snapdragon 778G. The new chip inhibits the new ARM v9 architecture and is now fabbed Samsung’s 4nm node. While the node has been improved, it is clocked similarly to its predecessor at 2.4GHz, 2.36GHz and 1.8GHz on one A710, three A710s and four A510 cores clusters. The new Adreno GPU is also present there for gaming.

For the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Xiaomi, realme, Motorola, OnePlus, iQOO and ASUS officially confirms that they will use it on their next flagship device. On the other hand, OPPO confirms the use of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 on the Reno8 Pro and Honor and Xiaomi are rumored to have upcoming devices with it.
