The Dimensity 8000 is rumored to be a watered down chip and is positioned lower than the upcoming Dimensity 9000. Yet a new rumor claims that there is an intermediary between these two chips.

MediaTek announced two chips recently, the Dimensity 8000 and 8100. From its specifications, the 8100 is a speedier version of the 8000 with higher clock speeds. That means that the 8100 is similar to 8000 when it comes to CPU and GPU architecture.

To recall, the Dimensity 8000 is built on ARM v8 with four ARM Cortex-A78 at 2.75GHz and four A55 cores at 2GHz. It will be paired by a Mali G510 MC6 GPU. The Dimensity 8000 seems to be a solid performer atleast on one AnTuTu score posted by DCS himself. It scored 820,230 on the benchmark and is on par with the Snapdragon 888.

Other features include support of up to 120Hz 2K displays, 200MP sensors, a modem that is capable of 4.7Gbps download, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and HDR10+ adaptive.

The chip is expected to debut this month with the rumored Redmi K50 Pro and the upcoming realme GT Neo 3.
