Tecno has been a staple in the ultra budget segment when it comes to their handsets. That meant their devices so far lacked premium features such as OLED displays or even 5G. With the high refresh rate hype trickling down each segment, 5G capability is also tagged in as smartphone SoCs continues to progress. That’s what the newly launched Tecno Pova 5G is aimed to deliver.
The phonemaker launches the Pova 5G first in African markets. Tecno also revealed official promotional posters along with the specs. The posters include the features of the device such as the presence of a MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset which is usually found on upper midrange devices from before. This is paired with UFS 3.1 storage, LPDDR5 RAM.
Its display is a 6.95″ Full HD IPS display with 120Hz refresh rate support. Since the display is an LCD panel, the fingerprint scanner is located at the frame of the device which also doubles as a power key. The rear cameras consists of a 50MP+2MP+2MP setup.
Powering the handset is a 6000mAh cell which can charge up to 18W in power. Just like any other Tecno device, the Pova 5G runs on HiOS skin on top of Android 11.
The Pova 5G is rumored to be priced at around $289 or around PHP 14.5K directly converted.
