The Taiwanese chipmaker has already announced their big guns and their best bet yet to outperform what Qualcomm will offer for next year’s devices. While the Dimensity 9000 is a beast, another slightly less powerful processor is on the horizon destined to fuel in budget flagship devices.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7000 will be featuring an octa core CPU design with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked in at 2.75GHz and four 2GHz ARM Cortex-A55 cores. It will also be powered by a Mali G510 GPU from ARM’s ARMv9 CPU instruction set.

As for benchmarks, posts from Weibo from reliable tipsters report that the silicon runs at 750,000 in AnTuTu v9. This is between the Snapdragon 870, notably used on the POCO F3 and the Snapdragon 888 which is the outgoing flagship chip. If this is correct, this is pretty powerful for budget flagship devices.

This is possible with TSMC’s 5nm N5 process which the processor is allegedly built on.

There are already rumors that Redmi will be picking up this chip to be equipped on a Redmi device. That sounds promising as it may eventually trickle down as a budget flagship POCO device catering for the global market.
