The rumor mill has been busy recently as popular tipsters suggest that the new MediaTek Dimensity flagship will be ARMv9 compliant with ARM moving to ARMv9 with their new CPU design, the X2, A710 and A510. Also, MediaTek is rumored to have the first companies to place orders with TSMC’s n4 (4nm) node. Major specifications of the upcoming flagship chipset, named as the Dimensity 2000.
Digital Chat Station revealed that not only MediaTek will be ARMv9 compliant, but will also feature an ARM Cortex-X2 platform clocked at 3GHz, three A710 and four A510 efficiency cores. With TSMC’s superior manufacturing process compared to Samsung and the inclusion of an ARM Cortex CPU design may outperform Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset which bears Samsung’s manufacturing process.
Moreover, the GPU is said to be Mali G710 with ten shader cores. This is the only chipmaker to feature Mali GPUs this time around with Samsung starting their partnership with AMD and Huawei is crippled in the silicon space.
As for improvements on ARM’s side, the ARM v9 cluster improves by about 30-35% in performance, and efficiency overall. This is also true on the Mali G710 over the Mali G78.
The upcoming chip will be arriving on phones next year.
