Samsung has already confirmed that they will be partnering with AMD with their chips next year with the popular word that the partnership will improve graphics performance of chips. it is a no brainer that Samsung will be putting the technology into their flagship lineup. What’s interesting is, a report from a South Korean forum that the midrange devices will get the same treatment as well.
The report came from a user from clien.net, the user stated that the upcoming Galaxy A lineup slated for 2022 will have AMD mRDNA GPUs. The caveat is that the device lower than the flagship lineup will have less Compute Units (CUs) than the flagship offerings. Reports say that the budget midrange to misrange devices will have 2-4CUs and flagships have 4-6CUs. All running at a peak of 1GHz.
Furthermore, the chips for the midrange lineup is said to be barred of throttling, unlike from the flagships, the cause being the lack of ARM Cortex X CPU design which maximizes performance regardless of efficiency and temperature.
