Samsung breaches boundaries when it comes to sheer megapixel count for smartphones. Just recently, the South Korean conglomerate just unveiled their new advancements on their ISOCELL lineup which includes the Samsung GN5, with 50MP , and the Samsung HP1 which is the 200MP sensor.
The Samsung ISOCELL HP1 has 0.64μm-sized pixels which the adjacent pixels can be binned at a 4×4 style and a 2×2 solution with support for ChameleonCell technology offering full pixel rendering. This gives the sensor an effective non-binned resolution of 16,384 x 12,288. The size of the sensor is at 1/1.22-inch.
When binned at 4×4, the sensor can shoot 12.5MP with 2.65μm pixel size per integrated pixel. Adding on to that, the sensor can support 8K footage for up to 30FPS and 4K of up to 240FPS.
The Samsung ISOCELL GN5 is bearing 1μm-sized pixels which the adjacent pixels can be binned at a 2×2 quad bayer array. When not binned, the sensor has a resolution of 8,160 x 6,144. The size of the sensor is at 1/1.57-inch.
When binned at 2×2, the sensor can shoot 12.5MP with 2.83μm pixel size per combined pixel. In addition to all of that, the sensor supports ISOCELL 2 technology and video for up to 8K at 30FPS.
