Last week, Samsung unveiled their newest foldables in their Samsung Unpacked live stream event. In it, they introduced the update to their popular foldables called the Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3. Both of these foldable devices have been upgraded with more durable materials – with a surprise upgrade to waterproofing – and made even more affordable this year!
The Fold series has been around for a while. This is it’s third generation and it shows. With a starting price of PHP 87,990, the Z Fold 3 is significantly cheaper than last year’s Z Fold 2 at PHP 99,990. But it doesn’t go cheap on the specs: its powered by a Snapdragon 888 (which is arguably the better processor over Exynos from other Samsung flsagships); 120hz displays on both the cover and main screen; the first under-display camera on a foldable; and now supports a new S Pen for stylus input!
But have we also mentioned that the Z Fold 3 is also more durable? It now has IPx8 Water Resistance (a surprise upgrade given the hinge mechanism is hard to protect from water ingress), a tougher Armor Aluminum body material, a PET main screen layer that is 80% more durable than the Z Fold 2’s outer screen, and Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the screen and body.
That’s not all, the pre-order bonuses on this year’s Fold is also heavily upgraded. There’s three major options. You can pre-order from official physical Samsung stores (and partners) or on Samsung.com. For offline stores you can get up to PHP 27,400 freebies and discounts, and for Samsung.com you get up to PHP 20,400.
With the free one year of Samsung Care+, you’re also safe from any accidental breakage of the phone so under normal use you can be confident with your Z Fold 3 that it will be repaired or replaced with no cost and as little hassle as possible.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G comes in three colors. Phantom Black or Phantom Silver for the 256GB Variant; and Phantom Black or Phantom Green for the 512GB Variant. Full specs are below.

Moving on to the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. It isn’t, in fact, the third Flip foldable of this line, but the second. We’ll let that pass since it launches alongside the Fold3 and calling it the Flip2 would probably be confusing for a lot of consumers.
What’s not confusing though, is the Flip3’s large upgrades across the board. Same with the Fold, it gains water resistance, durable Armor Aluminum body, and the 80% more durable PET folding screen protection. The cover screen is also made bigger so you can completely read notifications without opening the Flip. You still get the same flagship processor as the Fold in a small, pocketable form factor at the enticing price of PHP 52,990 for the 128GB Variant and PHP 56,990 for the 256GB Variant. A variety of nice pastel colors are available including Cream, Green, Lavender, and Phantom Black.
For pre-order bonuses, you get something similar.
As always, any durability concerns with folding phones should be abated by the free one year of Samsung Care+, which also comes with the Flip3. Specs are below.
