New Snapdragon 778G 5G Launched By Qualcomm Is Another Pledge For Premium Midrange Performance

Qualcomm just released the Snapdragon 780G which is the top of the line Snapdragon7-series chip even trading blows to previous generations of their flagship lineup. Recently, Qualcomm unveils a watered down CPU of the 780G but still amasses great performance.

 
The Snapdragon 778G 5G mobile platform will be built on 6nm manufacturing process, a step forward compared to the Snapdragon 765 series at 7nm. The new chip has ARM Cortex-A78 cores with maximum clock frequency of 2.4GHz. This is paired with a slimmed down version of the Adreno 642 on the 780G, the 642L. 


For connectivity, the silicon is equipped with Snapdragon X53 modem and FastConnect 6700 for WiFi 6E. Capable of 3.3Gb/s of downlink hardwired into the silicon’s 5G capabilities. Its AI performance can reach 12TOPs rivalling flagship chips of yesteryears.
Support of up to 192MP CMOS sensors, 144Hz refresh rate 1080p displays, LPDDR5 RAM and Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 at 100W are other features tweaked inside the chip. 


The silicon is expected to arrive first on an Honor device, comfirmed to be the Honor 50, claimed by a popular tipster on Weibo.
