With MediaTek’s recent success with their Dimensity series, the saga continues with them releasing another chip under the series. This time, the Dimensity 900 packs some interesting features and specifications for a powerful potential midrange contender for phonemakers.
The said chip is manufactured via a 6nm process, this is on par with the latest flagship chips produced by the chipmaker namely the Dimensity 1100 and 1200. It is expected for this chip to be more efficient and power sipoing than chips made on the 7nm node.
For the CPU side of the silicon, it features two ARM Cortex-A78 cores which are used in cream of the crop chips like the Snapdragon 888. It runs at a maximum of 2.4GHz for heavy usage. The other six cores are 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-A55 for more efficient workload. Partnering the CPU is a Mali-G68 GPU with four shader cores.
The Dimensity 900 also supports 108MP sensors for the device’s potential hardware. Both video decode and encode supports 4K at 30FPS.
The chip can support 1080p displays of up to 120Hz refresh rate. Memory combination support of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 in storage.
Being a Dimensity chip, it also supports 5G connectivity.
