Samsung has been chucking out ISOCELL sensors extending the bar when it comes to the megapixel count. Their lineup was the first ever to breach the 100MP mark in mobile and Xiaomi was one of the manufacturers to grab it. And with their upcoming alleged 200MP sensor, the Chinese manufacturer might be the first one to take on it as well.
Famous tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Xiaomi will be using Samsung’s 200MP. Ice Universe on the other hand, claimed that the upcoming sensor will have 0.64 micron-size pixels, smaller than any sensor.
Larger megapixel sensors will tend to have smaller pixels and as a result, the upcoming 200MP shooter will have a size of 1/1.37″, smaller compared to the Samsung Bright GN2.
With that said, smaller pixels helps the sensor to be smaller. Larger pixels at this megapixel count would result to an awkwardly large sensor and the manufacturer will incorporate a larger module. As if the Mi 11 Ultra’s bump isn’t large enough.
