With Honor decoupling from its former parent company, the firm can now focus in brewing their upcoming devices instead rather than dealing with geopolitical issues with the U.S.
Sources from China hint that the phonemaker will have a Snapdragon 888 device to be launched this early Q3 of 2021 at July. The said device will slot in under the Magic series.
The Magic series has been the company’s flagship lineup. The last smartphone under the Magic lineup had a top tier chipset, and a sliding mechanism similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 which was Xiaomi’s top of the line on that time.
There are two reasons why would it has late launch date, according to the said sources. One is the problem of integration Qualcomm platforms to the smartphones and the other is the shortage of Snapdragon mobile platforms.
With the decoupling just recent, Honor is taking its toll with the late orders of the chips needed.
Honor’s last flagship device, the V40 series, has a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chip inside, and powerful cameras. The company was still under Huawei’s supervision when they developed the V40 series.
