The Snapdragon 888 has been out for for flagship devices from Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and the like. New information from Chinese social media point out that Qualcomm is preparing a toned down version of the current flagship platform.
SM8325 or the alleged part number of the watered down Snapdragon 888 is tipped to have identical features of the Snapdragon 888. That will include the ARM Cortex X1 core, the same Adreno 660 GPU that powers through the games and the same triple core ISP for photo snapping and fast 2.7gigapixel/second. According to rumors though, Qualcomm may have cut down on the processor on the modem. This won’t have the Snapdragon X60 modem in tow. A 4G version of the Snapdragon 888 for short. This might be vital moving on as Huawei can actually purchase this chip to their own usage as it lacks a 5G modem which they are restricted by U.S. sanctions.Aside from that, it is also a cost-cutting measure for markets that currently lack the capability of delivering 5G signal such as India.Aside from the Snapdragon SM8325, a lite version of the unannounced Snapdragon SM7350 is also on the horizon. This also knocks down the 5G modem on the SM7350 which is yet to be announced.
