Redmi Outs The K40 Series, Compelling Hardware At Insane Prices

Just right on schedule, Redmi unveiled their latest roster to fill the demand for their budget flagship lineup, the K series, this time the K40 lineup.

The series is composed of three distinct devices. The K40, K40 Pro and a Pro+ variant.

The standard flavor already packs some serious punch inside of it. This time, the phonemaker decided to use a Snapdragon 800 series chip with the 870 as an upgrade from its predecessors using Snapdragon 700 series.

On the contrary, the camera setup for the K40 seem underwhelming in comparison. It has the Sony IMX 582 sensor which was used on the Redmi K20 way back. A step down as well to the IMX 686 which was used even on the standard K30.
Nevertheless of the said pull back, it offers excellent hardware for its asking price.

The Pro version on the other hand has the new Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which is also found on the Pro+ variant.
For the rear shooters of the Pro and Pro+, both are similar with an ultrawide snapper and a telephoto camera, the difference is the use of a Sony IMX 686 on the K40 Pro and a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor on the Pro+.

Aside from all of that, all three have similar specifications on board such as the Samsung E4 1080p AMOLED display which refreshes at 120Hz. Similar charging technology and battery size at 4520mAh. All of them don Dolby Atmos speakers and side mounted fingerprint scanner.

The prices and specifications are listed below. All of them are officially launched in China and it is currently unknown when will it hit local stores.
There are rumors that the K40 devices may launch under the POCO brand globally.
