A known leaker on Weibo, has posted information regarding Redmi. Redmi is now on open testing phase for the MediaTek Dimensity 1000.
Redmi was known to be in partnership with MediaTek with the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the debut of the gaming-centric system on a chip, the MediaTek Helio G90T. Recently, General Manager of Redmi and Vice President of Xiaomi Lu Weibing, confirmed that they are in partnership with MediaTek on their announcement with the Dimensity series.
The Dimensity series of chipsets from MediaTek are the new flagship series of system on a chip equipped with 5G modems integrated on the chipset itself. Furthermore, the Dimensity series of SoCs are yet to debut globally.
Describing the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 itself, it is promising to say the least. Along with its announcement months ago, MediaTek has also unveiled the capabilities of the chip. In particular, the AnTuTu v8 benchmark score of the said chipset has breached through 500,000 at 511,363. This is more than the Snapdragon 855 and 855 Plus which average scores averages at low and high 400,000s respectively. It has also outscored the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G and just below the Snapdragon 865 and the Apple A13.
Knowing Redmi, it will be safe to assume that this device will be more inexpensive compared to its competition with the same internals. If true, this will be a device with above average performance without breaking the bank. As of of right now, there are no official teasers and implications of the said device.
This rumor may or may not materialize so take it with a grain of salt.
