EA Says Merry Christmas, Gives Away Mass Effect 2 On Origin (Yes, That Means It’s Free)

Electronic Arts and their online distribution platform Origin has been giving away free games for a while now – and this one is no exception. Except its also a Triple A title that one should really own at least in some form. The game in question is called Mass Effect 2 and is the middle child in the trilogy that is an awesome space exploration romp ripe with alien sex and/or punching themĀ in the face (or shooting). So go fire up your Origin app and make sure you “Buy” the game for $0.00 today[1].

Seriously, there’s not much to it but to do it[2]. If you don’t have an Origin account or don’t understand what a digital online distribution platform is, this is not the blog that will explain it to your sorry Jack Sparrow ass.

Edit/Update: After what looks like 4 hours of Mass Effect 2 being free on Origin, the online store now lists the game again at about US$25. So it may no longer be free. We don’t know if this was an error or if it just became a premature free game on Origin as per BioWare’s free gifts this Holiday Season. Will update when we know more.
