If you’re like me, you’ve been anxiously waiting for the Nexus 5 since the Nexus 4 came out. Or actually, this whole entire year. While I regard the Nexus 4 as the local brand killer with unbeatable specs at only PHP 13k, I’ve decided to wait for an LTE-capable Nexus phone before I jumped in. (For YouTube uploading and streaming purposes.) The rumors for this device has been going on for months now and frankly we’re surprised that it hasn’t been official just yet. (New rumors suggest it will be announced November 1.) But leave it to one of our local gray market sellers to pretty much “soft announce” it and pre-sell it anyway. DBGadgets have just posted a Facebook picture announcing the availability of the new phone’s 16GB model priced at PHP 24,600.
This may seem high for primary estimates, but just remember that the actual official price for the device hasn’t even been announced yet. Either way, there’s no doubt we’ll be furiously updating our tech feeds on November 1 waiting for the official announcement. For now, we have some rumored specs for you to read here and get hyped with.
Google / LG Nexus 5 (Rumored Specs) – US$ 349+
Some may say that the DBGadgets price is a bit too high for the 16GB version, but we still don’t know if the price will actually be US$349 anyway. Plus of course the initial batch will always be pricier due to demand. Either way, if it is indeed around that price, then we may even see it below PHP 20k at some point. And I’ve already decided that I’d buy one if it sold for under that.
The wait is killing me.
