Asus Fonepad Review–Phone-Capable Droid Tablet Powered By Intel Atom For PHP 15k

When Asus Philippines introduced the Fonepad a few weeks ago, we admit we were a bit skeptical about the Single-Core 1.6Ghz Atom processor mounted inside. After all, in the ARM Android world, Quad-Core processors were the norm. After hearing all of the supposed positives from both Asus and Intel’s staff though, we actually got more curious. Is the x86 architecture CPU (with Hyperthreading) really as optimized and battery-saving as they say it is? Is the Taiwanese company’s first phone-capable tablet good enough to put in the hands of traditional phone-sized users? Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long to find out. As it turns out we’ve managed to borrow a review unit at the event and immediately started to see what the tablet/phone can do – and we have those results for you here in our video review. Suffice to say, the results are surprising.

And there you have it folks! A very interesting tablet indeed. This definitely sets an bar for phone-capable 7” devices in the future, especially since the competition tends to be more expensive and have slower ARM Dual-Core chips inside.
