Cherry Mobile, arguably the current leader in locally-sourced (albeit rebranded) Android smartphones and tablets, have done it all over again. They’ve managed to wow the crowd (including us) this time with the double launch of the Cherry Mobile Omega HD & Flame 2.0. The former looking to us like the most impressive, high quality phone the brand has ever made – having some very sought-after high end materials like the scratchproof Dragon Trail glass; 12MP Backside Illuminated camera; a thin and classy looking design; and even some high quality tweaks on the touchscreen itself. While the latter, the Flame 2.0, promises to be the phone designed for users who need the most powerful system they can have – as it is the first Quad-Core smartphone to be sold in the Philippines by a local manufacturer. Both phones are incredibly affordable as well, with Omega HD tagged at PHP 7,999 and the Flame 2.0 at PHP 6,999. Hop on over the jump for the complete specs and a launch preview video!
The Cherry Mobile Omega HD looks to be an impeccably built 5” HD Dual-Core phone with a lot of attention to detail. Its specs are impressive enough –with a Dual-Core 1Ghz MediaTek Processor, 5” 1280×720 IPS screen, 12MP Camera with Flash + 2MP Front, 1GB RAM, 2,100mAh battery, and all running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. But specs alone doesn’t do the Omega HD justice. It’s a beautiful phone at only 9mm thin and looks and feels like a high quality device. Expensive materials have been picked out for this device – which include Backside Illuminated Sensors for the front/back cameras and a Dragon Trail scratch resistant display that can be used with gloves and even with wet fingers or water droplets. Priced at the high end (for Cherry Mobile’s standards) of PHP 7,999, it looks to be the choice for users who want a phone with an HD display + high res camera and will be available sometime this April.

On the other hand, the Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 has the privilege and historic significance of becoming the first ever Quad-Core Smartphone to be launched by a local manufacturer – and from what it looks like it’s also the cheapest one to boot. Priced at only PHP 6,999, it literally brings Quad-Core to the masses at only 3k above the massively successful Dual-Core Cherry Mobile Flare. Its specs include a Quad-Core Snapdragon clocked at 1.2Ghz, a 4.5” qHD 960×540 screen, 5MP camera + LED with VGA front, 1GB RAM, and all of the usual Android features that comes with its Jelly Bean operating system. It also implements a new feature that can allow you to record video or take pictures with the back and front camera at the same time. While the display isn’t designed to compete with the Omega HD, its still a very powerful phone that will no doubt be a hit for gamers out there who would prefer the processing power / qHD combo over an HD screen with less silicon. Similarly, while the battery capacity is only at 1,600mAh, Cherry Mobile will include a portable battery charger with the retail package to extend the battery life of the device.

Both phones should be available this coming April but from what it looks like Cherry Mobile SM North EDSA might have the jump on the Flame 2.0 – declaring that they will have stocks by tomorrow, March 21. (As well as it being available on their multiply online page here.) As per usual, we’ll be having a #BigTimeShow special about the two phones this coming Saturday, so be sure to watch and ask us whatever you want about the two phones!
