The HTC One X
The new HTC phones for 2012 have finally arrived, and they currently come in two forms (a third One S might be available later) – the HTC One X and the One V. The former is a quad-core, high performance flagship that HTC promptly beat anyone to the market with – being able to launch the Android 4.0 smartphone this April much earlier than competing brands. The One V is also another first – it is one of the first single-core entry-level devices with Android 4.0 straight out of the box. While the One X is not that much more expensive than Dual-Core competition at PHP 32,990 SRP, you can snag the One V for quite a competitive price of PHP 15,990 SRP. Of course, we never settle for just SRP prices here in The Technoclast, so we found the best prices for you – PHP 28,500 for the quad-core phone, and quite an affordable PHP 14,000 for the single-core device. Check out the specs and where to get them at these prices after the jump!
The HTC One X is the aforementioned new quad-core flagship phone from the Taiwanese electronics giant. Clad in a new single-block of polycarbonate that is claimed to be as strong as their aluminum counterparts, it is arguably one of the fastest smartphones today – and the only Quad-Core smartphone available in the Philippines right now. LG and Samsung’s possible offerings have yet to reach here, and HTC might be in for quite a lead with the One X. In terms of specs, you have a 1.5Ghz Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor, 4.7” 1280×720 (HD) Super LCD 2 screen, 8MP Camera with LED Flash, 1080p video recording, 1.3MP Front camera, and 32GBs of storage. The larger storage capacity is definitely needed here because the phone doesn’t come with expandable MicroSD memory. Of note is also the fact that it is using a smaller MicroSIM slot, and non-removable battery. What you get in return is 25GB of storage for 2 years from Dropbox, new HTC Sense 4.0 features, and Beats Audio integration. One of the largest advancements with this new device is their camera capabilities – it is now able to take pictures while recording video, and can take screencaps from videos previously taken. There’s also a new 4FPS burst shooting mode, and the lens aperture has been upgraded to f2.0, which should promise even better images in low light.
The HTC One V on the other hand, is a more traditional single-core offering, and sporting a familiar style that reminds us of the HTC Legend, Hero, etc. with the angled chin on the bottom. The form facto is also familiar, as well as the build – unibody aluminum. Specswise, it is almost similar to the HTC Desire S or Rhyme from last year, except it now packs Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 – a first for single-core entry-level devices. You’re still getting a 1Ghz single-core processor 3.7” 800×480 screen, 5MP Camera with LED flash, 720p video recording, and all the usual connectivity options. It also inherits some of the new features from its bigger brother (One X), allowing for similar camera performance and Beats Audio integration. In keeping with the traditional design of the One V, it has the standard MicroSD expansion slot and regular SIM – though it loses the removable battery feature due to its unibody aluminum design. Still, for an entry-level Android, this is one of the better ones out there, and its main bragging right is that it comes with Android 4.0 straight out of the box.
The HTC One X & One V
You can grab an HTC One X right now for an SRP of PHP 32,990, and the One X for an SRP of PHP 15,990. However, if you check around for lower prices, you’ll notice that CMKCellphones is offering both of these phones for much lower – PHP 28,500 for the quad-core phone, and PHP 14,000 for the single-core one. Those are really quite tempting prices, and we reckon the One V will actually win some fans due to its price-point and Android 4.0 capabilities – while the One X will be the de facto choice for users who require their phones to be as future-proof as possible. Check them out at an HTC retailer near you!
