The HTC Rhyme & HTC Explorer
Sometimes when it comes to gadgets, you gotta do your own scouting – especially for HTC products. HTC Philippines usually release products in the market first, then have announcement and/or product launches later. So in terms of news, you can get it from the street sooner. Such is the case right now for the HTC Explorer and HTC Rhyme. We’ve seen the Rhyme in stores before so we weren’t that surprised – but the Explorer was a new one on us. It now retails on a couple of stores, including the official HTC concept stores for PHP 10,500 cash; While the Rhyme, which includes the fancy bag charm and charging dock is around for about PHP 21,500.
The HTC Explorer
The HTC Explorer is the company’s newest entry-level device and should occupy some of the same space that the Wildfire S did before it. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread-running phone has a 3.2” 320×480 display, 600Mhz processor, 3.2MP camera, 480p video capabilities, and the usual android options. What’s new and unique about the Explorer is that its got a shinier coat of Sense on it with widgets and shortcuts that speed up access to most used apps, as well as the usual popular customizations. Physically, you can also get some optional colored back covers to personalize your phone. It is available now on stores for a cash price of PHP 10,500. It’s a great little budget phone for HTC fans, but we’d like to see how much app memory it has before fully recommending it to people.
The HTC Rhyme with Accessories (some bundled in the box)
The HTC Rhyme is one of the new midrange stylish phones from the company and it offers a few stylish accessories straight out of the box – namely a charging dock, the bag charm, and the upgraded flat-wired earbuds pictured above. The phone itself is no slouch as the specs are probably more closely related to the HTC Desire S – namely the 1Ghz processor, 3.7” 800×480 screen, 5MP camera with LED flash, 720p video recording, and a VGA front facing camera. Possibly giving you a clue on who the phone might be designed for is the primary color choice – plum. The appeal is definitely not lost among the less-fairer sex, but you can’t deny that the bag charm will probably be more designed for women. (And you can tell by the video below as well.) Anyway, we’ve spotted the Rhyme on sale for PHP 21,500 and that’s a reasonable price considering its got all those accessories bundled in the box.
