Bye Froyo, Hi Gingerbread!
If you own an HTC Desire like we do, you’ll no doubt be familiar with the on-again, off-again relationship it had with the Gingerbread update. But thankfully, HTC have finally pushed through with the update for all of us users. Unfortunately, they had to make it an optional update that won’t go through over-the-air (OTA) – the reason being that the update had to sacrifice some apps and parts of the OS to fit into the Desire’s small memory space. The download then would warn potential upgraders that their phones will be reset and some of the Sense customizations will be lost. We were initially apprehensive about the upgrade, but after some time we relented and decided to check it out. Check out our video on how to update your Desire to Gingerbread after the jump!
This video will walk you through the process that we went through to upgrade your phone. Hopefully it will give you an idea of what to expect and also let you know what will happen to your phone beforehand just in case you wouldn’t like the outcome. You can download the update from HTC’s website here. Remember to read all the warnings and cautions that is attributed with the update. We’ll also like to do our own disclaimer: Update your device at your own risk. It’s not a terribly hard process. But in case you mess up, don’t blame us please.
Anyway, without further ado, check out our video on how to get Gingerbread on your HTC Desire below.
There you have it! Hopefully we’ve helped you decide as to whether you want the update or not, as well as how to install it if you decide to get it after all. Thanks for watching!
