The Acer Iconia Tab A500
We also had a chance to take the Acer Iconia Tab A500 for a quick spin during the Philippine Android Community meetup. So naturally we had to take some video. The 10” tablet was released recently by Acer and should be available now in stores for PHP 21,900. That’s a pretty attractive price for some Honeycomb goodness, even though it’s a WiFi tablet. Nothing wrong with WiFi, but we definitely prefer our gadgets to have 3G capabilities as well.
So the Acer Iconia Tab is a 10.1 inch Android tablet, and one of the newfangled ones running on Google’s new version 3.0 Honeycomb OS. It has a 1280×800 resolution screen, 16/32GB onboard memory with SD card expansion, 1Ghz dual-core Tegra processor, WiFi b/g/n, 5MP camera with LED that can shoot 720p video, and a 2MP camera in front. On our hands it’s a little heavy, but that’s because the body is made of brushed aluminum and we kind of like that. It seems like the tablet can sure take a beating, though with the weight it can tire you out if you hold it in awkward angles. Honeycomb runs really spiffy though and we like the display quality – so those are definite plusses. But anyway, have a look at our video checking out the interface with a quick browser test.
Pretty impressive performance on those dual 1Ghz cores, and Honeycomb is always a beauty. Would love to take it for a more serious thorough-testing ride, but maybe we’ll have that chance next time!
Here’s a quick YouTube ad from Acer for the device to see more.
