One of the year’s most awaited handsets is here! Or actually will be here in about two weeks as Samsung’s dual-core flagship the Galaxy S II will be available from Globe on June 27th. For those marking their calendars on that date, you can get the Android 2.3 device with Globe’s postpaid Plan 3799 for free. And if you want to buy the prepaid kit, the price is reportedly still PHP 29,990.

For those still unfamiliar with Samsung’s latest, the Galaxy S II is the successor to last year’s popular Galaxy S. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread device now has a 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus screen at 800×480, 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, 8MP Camera + LED Flash with 1080p video and a front-facing camera. The phone is supposedly one of the thinnest and lightest smartphones today being only 8.5mm thin and 116g – smaller and lighter than the iPhone 4.

According to a media launch attended by YugaTech, Globe Telecom announced that the phone will be available starting June 27, 2011 free with Globe’s My SuperSurf Plan 3799. The prepaid kit was previously mentioned to be at PHP 30k. If you’re in the lookout for one of this year’s best phones, then you better start saving!
