On a Fujitsu Media luncheon event that we attended recently, Fujitsu announced three new interesting products that will soon be part of our computing world. There was the Meego-running Lifebook MH330, the 13.3” screened Lifebook SH530 laptop, and the Stylistic Q550 – a business-minded touchscreen slate that runs on Windows 7 OS.

Mr. Edmund Lim, Product Manager of Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific started the proceedings by introducing us to the Lifebook MH330. The MH330 is a 10.1” backlit LED display running on an Atom 1.66ghz processor. What’s special about the mini-notebook is the implementation of the open-source Meego OS. Meego was developed by Intel and Nokia to make a portable, small, and efficient, smartphone and notebook OS. The Fujitsu MH330 is one such device. Compared to regular Windows laptops, a Meego laptop boots quicker and the batteries last longer, says Mr. Lim.

We took a quick video of the Mini-Notebook running Meego for you to check out. Unfortunately there was no internet service where the event was held so we couldn’t test its capabilities for web browsing.

Next, Mr. Lim moves onto the Lifebook SH530. A Core i5-running high-performance notebook with an aluminum body and lightweight design. Fujitsu has managed to include all the necessary features for a notebook into a portable body at only 1.99kgs. It has a 13.3” screen at 1366×768 resolution and a built-in ATI Mobility Radeon GPU for graphics rendering and productivity, and has optional Hard Drives up to 500gb and 4gb or RAM.

And finally, Mr. Lim introduced the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 Business Slate – which is a different interpretation of the popular portable Tablet computers these days. While iPads and Android Tablet competitors have been trying to win over the consumer market, the Stylistic Q550 is geared towards the executive and business class segment of the market – built with security features needed for the modern on-the-go businessman like a Fingerprint lock to secure the device. Powered by a version of Windows 7 OS, it has the capability to run all your office software but with the added benefit of portability and multi-touch computing. There are optional accessories like an input pen to use as a traditional tablet PC, cradle charger that comes with extra USB ports, bluetooth keyboard, and a protective sleeve.

We were interested to try one of the Q550 slates but they were not yet available during the event. Rest assured though, that we will be able to try out the unit soon during a more detailed launch. For now, we wait in anticipation to see what Fujitsu’s slate has to offer.
