Check out the specs for beleaguered mobile company Sony Ericsson’s Idou. 16:9 full touchscreen, 12.1 megapixel camera with xenon flash. Touch camera focus, Wi-fi, GPS, 3G, and all that. Too bad that it looks like it’ll be shipping with a resistive touchscreen, as opposed to Apple’s successful capacitative iPhone. But come on, 1.21 jigowatts (12.1megapixels) with a xenon flash should trump the turtleneck wielding iPhone with its 2megapixels and zero flash.
That said, I’d probably stick to Nokia’s N-series. 12.1megapixels is a lot, probably too much. A xenon flash is present in a few phones now, including my 5MP N82. My experience with SE (Sony Ericsson) handsets give me the impression that they a.) like weird boxy designs, b.) like overpricing handsets, and c.) is going for the weird metallic industrialist look. I mean, check out the back of that thing. It looks like it belongs to Megatron’s belt buckle.
Either way, I think its a step in the right direction for newer smart-camera-phones. Too bad this bad boy probably costs twice as much as an Xperia.
