Just like the Mix series, the MI Pad series from the Chinese firm has been quiet for years. This has changed as Xiaomi released their newest entrant into the tablet market with the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro.
The devices both offer a WQHD+ IPS display that refreshes at 120Hz with Dolby Vision support. Both also feature Dolby Atmos speakers with 4 on the regular version and 8 on the Pro. The tablets are running of a special version MIUI called MIUI for Pad 12.5 which supports split screen on applications.
The Mi Pad 5 has a 13MP lone shooter at the rear while 8 MP for selfies. Powering the Pad5 is a 8720mAh cell with support of up to 33W charging. Under the hood of the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 mobile platform, which is a rehash of the Snapdragon 855 Plus flagship chip from 2019 that runs at 2.96GHz
Meanwhile, the Pro version has dual cameras on its rear, a 13MP main shooter and a 5MP. The main camera is replaced with a 50MP sensor for the 5G version. A battery of 8600mAH with better fast charging at 67W. The processor is also swapped with a more recent Snapdragon 870 chip that runs at 3.2GHz.
For the prices, the Mi Pad 5 starts at CNY1999 or a PHP 15.5K equivalent. Meanwhile the Pro version starts at 2499CNY or roughly PHP 19.5K. The one that supports 5G retails in China for 3499CNY or PHP 27K. Xiaomi’s Inspiration Stylus will cost for 349CNY or PHP 2.7K.
