The year 2020 was full of smartphone launches despite the ongoing pandemic. OPPO is not yet done for this year. At the OPPO INNO day, they have announced that they are about to announce a new lineup before the year ends, this December. It turns out, according to rumors, it will be the Reno 5 series.
The alleged lineup is expected to launch in China next month. Digital Chat Station has shared more information about the roster. He posted in his Weibo account of what apparently is a certification of the said devices. Three mobile platforms were mentioned, “SM7250”, “MT6889”, and “SM8250”.
The three confirms that there will be at least three devices to be launched on the unveiling. “SM7250” is the model/part number of Qualcomm’s popular 5G midrange chip of this year, the Snapdragon 765G. While “SM8250” is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. Rumors suggest that the Snapdragon 865 equipped in the Reno 5 handset is tweaked, though there are no solid evidences to prove that.
Meanwhile, “MT6889” is MediaTek’s flagship processor, the Dimensity 1000+. The chip has showed promising processing grunt with the Realme X7 Pro and Redmi K30 Ultra getting favorable reviews in the performance department. Also, this has a 5G modem built-in the chip unlike Qualcomm’s solution.
Now, there are no indications as of now if whether these exact devices will go outside China. OPPO has been known to bring Reno devices out of China with lesser hardware.
The devices are expected to launch later today at China.
