Rumors circulate for a long time in Weibo that the Snapdragon 865 will have a more powerful variant on top of the already existing Snapdragon 865 Plus. Now, more information regarding that has surfaced.
A tipster from Weibo has unveiled information about the launch of the OPPO Reno5 series, the successor of the Reno4 series that has launched globally. He stated that it will be equipped with a Snapdragon 865 clocked at 3.2GHz.
He dubbed it as the “Snapdragon 865 Ultra”. Based on the CPU frequency, it is expected to be more powerful even when pit against the Snapdragon 865 Plus which was already found on some gaming phones.
The Reno5, particularly the Reno5 Pro+, will harbor this chip and expected to launch in China at the end of next month, November.
No word for official statements nor availability. So take this with a grain of salt.
Also, the rumor of a more powerful Snapdragon 865 with frequencies reaching 3.2GHz has been further discussed by Digital Chat Station from Weibo, which has a solid track record. It makes the rumor of such a chip more plausible.
