ARM introduced their newest CPU design open for its licensees, the Cortex-A78. The chipsets to be equipped with the said design is expected to ship out on devices next year. Samsung, atleast now rumored, is about to announce their midrange chip equipped with the design.

Ice Universe from Weibo has published a post. He noted that the Exynos 980 chipset was announced late last year and has been seen with the likes of some Samsung and Vivo devices. Now the tipster noted that it will be released this year but censored the name of the processor, and the date of its launch.

As for further leaks and rumors, this maybe the Exynos 1080 which has been announced in China to be powered Vivo’s X60. The said chip is reported to attain a 650,000 in AnTuTu, in which outpaces the Snapdragon 865 Plus.

The announcement itself will reveal Samsung built the chip such as the CPU topography, clockspeed and the transistor size. By that, we will have a better understanding of how the SoC performs and delivers its performance.

The ARM Cortex-A78 is the successor of the A77, it offers key improvements for up to 20% for the same power consumed by its predecessor. This is while considering PPA or performance, power, and area for the device to be better performing in all key aspects of a good performing CPU, performance, thermals and power draw.
