Rumor: Insider Claims 2021 Midrange SoC Ties With Snapdragon 865 In Benchmark

The Snapdragon 865 is the mean and lean when it comes to smartphone processors for Android. It even brought price hikes with 5G tied into it forcing other major brands to shift away to the chip.

 Well, it won’t be long until the successor, the 875, will come through. Though, to anyone’s guess, who would’ve thought that midrange chips next year will tie up to the cream of the crop of the present?


Digital Chat Station from Weibo detailed information about upcoming silicon designed for next year. He said that upper midrange chips from Qualcomm and Exynos, built on 6nm manufacturing process, are having faster progress compared to 5nm flagship chips that are progressing normally.

He then stated that Qualcomm and Exynos midrange silicon are powerful. Powerful enough to score 600,000 in a benchmark. It is unknown if the silicon is from Samsung’s in-house Exynos or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon. Also, the actual benchmark was not stated, but presumably it is of AnTuTu or Master Lu, two of the famous benchmarks in China.


In comparison, the Snapdragon 865 floats around at 600,000 at average and at a maximum of 660,000 on AnTuTu. Meanwhile on MasterLu, it achieves usually north of 550,000. So there is no denying that the unknown chip has some buff into it.


It is unknown when exactly this chip will see the light of day, but keep your eyes peeled as this maybe another force to be reckoned with in the midrange segment.
