OnePlus has been focusing on one smartphone since the OnePlus One up until the OnePlus 6 and 6T. The year after, the Chinese phone maker had diversified their smartphone catalog with an additional Pro variant, in which it also had a T refresh at the second half of last year.
Recently, OnePlus has received feedback from its long-time core audience, since OnePlus One days, that they have been “forgotten” with OnePlus smartphone prices have gone up.
This has lead to the Christening of the OnePlus Nord. Officials from the firm have been working on the Nord offering hardware at lower price points from the standard OnePlus devices.
Now, a test listing from Geekbench has surfaced, a OnePlus smartphone with a model name of “BE2028”. At first, tipsters speculated that this will be another Snapdragon 765-based device, having the “lito” motherboard indicated at the listing. Though, digging deeper, the listing shows an “Adreno 619”, which is the GPU integrated within the newly released Snapdragon 690 mobile platform
What does this mean?
OnePlus may have been planning more budget devices to suffice the demand at lower prices. They once filled the budget to midrange segment with devices. It seems that OnePlus, despite moving up with the ranks along with flagship from Samsung, Apple and even Huawei devices, has been mindful with the audience that they have “wow-ed” before with their past more budget friendly offerings.
