Kirin 820 benchmarks unravel a powerful midranger, outperforms the Snapdragon 765G.

The Kirin 820 has been officially unveiled by Honor in their Weibo account.

The Kirin 820 is identified to be equipped with Cortex A76 cores and a Mali G57 GPU. It is also expected to have improvements to its ISP and the NPU. 


Geekbench 4 scores for the chip shows a large upscale in terms of performance. The Kirin 820 scores 3490 in the single-core test and soars at 11,200 in multi-core. It outscored the Snapdragon 855 in single-core performance and ties with multi-core performance. It also outscores the Kirin 980 in both of the tests. It also outperforms the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L and Snapdragon 765G in both of the CPU tests.


For AnTuTu benchmark, the Kirin 820 flies at 370,000. This implies near flagship performance of the device. The breakdown shows the CPU is on par with the Snapdragon 855. The GPU lacks on the Kirin 820, but still manages to give an above average score at 100,000. Overall, the Kirin 820 manages to claw into a near flagship performance if not on par.

The Kirin 820 is expected to debut on the Honor 30S. Aside from the chipset, the device will have 40W fast charging capabilities, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a quad-rear camera setup. The Honor 30S will be launched in China this March 30. Availability in other markets is still yet to be informed.
