The Redmi Note series from Xiaomi formerly, now independently from Redmi themselves have always been offering high price to performance ratio at budget prices. Based on recent track record, Redmi has been replacing their series for every 6 months. Now that the Redmi Note 8 series is 6 months old, the Redmi Note 9 series was expected.
Recently, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max were introduced in India. And in addition of those devices, the Redmi Note 9S appears online, first a teaser in Malaysia but now also introduced in the Philippines.
The system on a chip, according to rumors, is a MediaTek Helio P75. This chip is positioned between the Helio P70 and the Helio P90. The chip will bring a pair of Cortex A75 cores and six Cortex A55 cores. Geekbench 5 scores also have appeared for this device, according to claims.
Xiaomi Merlin, according to a tipster, is the codename for this device. Scores of the benchmark appeared to be decent for a assumably budget offering. The score confirms the use of 6GB of RAM and a base frequency of 1.8GHz.
The launch date of the Redmi Note 9S was supposed to be on the 23rd of March. However, due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine, Xiaomi Philippines has decided to call off the launch and postpone it due to the crisis. Further disclosure of the launch date has yet to be made by the company.
