The much awaited update to the Samsung Galaxy S-series is here, and they’ve jumped a lot of numbers to get there, much like how many new upgrades Samsung has put into the new phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S20-series boasts a bold new design with a rectangular camera module in the back, buttery smooth 120Hz displays, and upgraded internals to go along with new improved cameras that focus on low light and zoom capabilities.

The top-of-the-line model is the S20 Ultra, packing a 108MP main camera sensor and can go up to 100x Hybrid Zoom via the 48MP sensor on a 10x folded lens design. This is the biggest of the bunch, with a significant camera module to house the large sensors, 5,000mAh Battery, and 6.9″ Display.

The S20 and S20+ are less crazy, but still impressive. You get a 64MP 3x Telephoto sensor capable of up to 30x Hybrid Zoom, 12MP Wide & Ultrawide which have slightly better sensor sizes, and the S20+ also packs a 3D depth sensor as the 4th lens.

All of the three models shoot video up to 8K in resolution, which is 16x more pixels than 1080p video. The first smartphones in the world to be able to do so.

Aside from 8K video, new features include a new Single Take camera mode for a simpler way to take photos, improved low light Night Mode, and Pro Video mode for videographers out there.

Batteries are larger across the board too, so you’re getting 4,000 mAh, 4,500 mAh, and 5,000 mAh batteries, going up in the lineup. And they charge with 25W Fast Charging too – the S20 Ultra even goes further going up to 45W.

Samsung Galaxy S20 – PHP 49,990 (Est. US$ 1,000)

Samsung Galaxy S20+ – PHP 55,990 (Est. US$ 1,110)

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra – PHP 69,990 (Est. US$ 1,400)

Overall, we think the Galaxy S20 series poses as quite a good upgrade over last year’s S10 devices. You get 120Hz Displays, big batteries, enhanced low light and zoom capabilities, and all the usual premium features you’d expect from a Samsung flagship.

So what do you think of the new Samsung Galaxy S20 series? For us, the 120Hz display finally makes Samsung phones an amazong choice for consumers who are looking for high refresh rate gaming, and ultrasmooth UI navigation. It’s not life or death to have one or not, but being the best phones to get on Android, Samsung’s phones needed to have it sooner or later.

Anyway, check out the Galaxy S20 series when it becoems available or pre-order your own soon! We think they’re hands-down the best phone you can get right now.
