Not much has changed with the external look of Samsung’s new S7 flagship line – but there’s a lot going on internally. At the launch today held at MWC Barcelona, the Korean company unveiled an improved flagship with a return of waterproofing, external storage, always on low-power display, and the world’s first DualPixel sensor camera on a smartphone. The latter features a 12MP 1.4um design with larger pixels supported by a bright f1.7 lens and fast autofocus achieved with the aforementioned DualPixel technology. Other than that, most of the features are bumped up from the S6 – larger battery, Marshmallow out of the box, more ram, and the obligatory upgrade to a faster processor.

That’s not to say a souped up version of the S6 wouldn’t be good though. The previous flagship was an excellent phone with fast charging, fast wireless charging, fingerprint sensor, and that excellent Super AMOLED QuadHD display – all of which are present in the new S7 and S7 Edge.
Speaking of the Edge it’s got a larger battery and display compared to the non-Edge, and has those curved edge sides that allows you open shortcuts by swiping from the corners.
That said, users of last year’s S6 variants might not see enough new things to warrant an upgrade, or do they? Either way, props to Samsung for upping their game once again and bringing back some important features.
