Back at the launch of the new LG G4, we snuck out of the programme so we can get an unhindered first dibs at the new flagship from Korea. Thanks to this small bit of time advantage, we’ve managed to score some comparison shots (and video!) to go up against the Asus Zenfone 2. But is the Zenfone camera enough to compete or will the G4 claim supremacy? Find out in our comparison video embedded above! (And camera specs below!)

LG G4 Camera Specs

  • 16MP (5312×2988) Camera
  • f1.8 Aperture; 1/2.6″ Sensor
  • Optical Image Stabilization
  • Laser Autofocus
  • LED Flash + Color Spectrum Sensor
  • 2160p 30FPS Video (MP4)
  • *Comparison video shot in 1080p

Asus Zenfone 2 Camera Specs – Full review here

  • 13MP (4096×3072) Camera
  • f2.0 Aperture; Toshiba Sensor
  • Dual Tone Flash
  • 1080p 30FPS Video (MP4)
  • *Video set to ‘Performance’ mode

Looking at the specs above, its really hard to see how the Zenfone could put up a fight. And yes, we think the G4 definitely outdid it. It’s also worth mentioning that the LG didn’t even use HDR, despite it being on Auto-HDR. (We checked the files and it didn’t have the HDR tag.) Lastly, you can even shoot UHD 2160p (4K~) video on the G4, which we didn’t use in this comparison.

However, despite the midrange specs and lack of hardware features such as OIS, CSS (Color Spectrum Sensor), and Laser Autofocus, the Taiwanese phone certainly held its own. Asus should be proud.

Bonus! Timelapse (150x) of us editing this video, which took about 3 hours 19 minutes: (Give a like for the “reflection cam”! Also, video stops when the rendering starts.)
